His Story
Born in New York City to parents of Jamaican descent, Barry received a BS degree from the University of Connecticut in 1978 and an MBA from Cornell University in 1982. Barry’s professional career took him on a 40+ year journey that spanned many disciplines, including public accounting, internal audit, corporate finance, and non-profit financial management.
Barry’s journey offered many opportunities for professional growth, but he never felt he was pursuing his true life’s purpose. His personal life did not fare much better, in and out of relationships year after year. His first marriage in 1998 lasted one year. His second marriage in 2005 lasted 5 years. He was fortunate to be blessed with two beautiful girls who ultimately saved his life and inspired him to change course.
In 2021 Barry lost his job, the second in less than two years. Within a week he found himself passed out on the floor of a bar. It was his “dark night of the soul” moment that would serve as the catalyst to embracing his current spiritual journey.
Since 2022 Barry has undergone an amazing spiritual rebirth. He is on his way to re-connecting with that magical little boy from NYC who knew no fear. This new path has also led Barry to his soulmate, his divine counterpart, with whom he co-founded The O+Positive Way, a vehicle allowing them to share their journey with others.
Sarina was born into a military family and raised globally in Europe, the Middle East, the Pacific Islands, and several states in the US. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s in Project Management from Brandeis University.
She invested 30+ years building a highly successful corporate career in the healthcare and public transportation sectors. She is an award-winning project portfolio executive who by any professional or material measure has achieved the highest of accomplishments.
On the personal side of life, Sarina has had a very different experience. Early in adulthood, a string of successive serious relationships each ended in heartache. These were followed by two failed marriages, the last of which she was fortunate to escape from with her life. And more recently, a long-term, safe, but not “the one” roommate situation-ship that, while perhaps useful at the time, was not what her heart and soul were seeking.
In the early 1990s Sarina recognized the mismatch between her experiences professionally and personally and over the course of the next 30+ years she stepped on and off a path of personal exploration and spiritual development. Sarina has explored myriad wisdom teachings, mystery schools, healing modalities, nutritional regimens, spiritual practices, and physical activities, all in pursuit of a balanced life that optimizes body, mind, and spirit. It is this path that led her to “calling in” and meeting the divine counterpart that her soul always knew was waiting to connect with her.

As they each began to emerge from the deeply reflective time of the COVID pandemic lockdown, with several layers of “dark night of the soul” experiences already behind them, Sarina and Barry each found themselves in significant “wakeup call” moments, perhaps their respective “darkest of dark nights.” They independently realized that they each needed and wanted a very different life for themselves. Among many other explorations and practices, they each enrolled in the same online courses based on channeled information from the unseen realms. In the Summer and Fall of 2022, half a world’s distance apart from each other, having not yet encountered each other in the 3rd dimension, Barry and Sarina were studying, practicing, exploring, healing, and doing all their deep spiritual work. Each was slowly coming to realize that they wanted more from life than they had yet experienced. They each felt that they had space and desire for a true life mate, a soul connected divine counterpart and they knew it was time to become the partner they hoped to “call in” to their experience. So, they each kept doing their work.
In the fall of 2022, while living alone in the Pacific Islands and taking these online courses, Sarina viscerally experienced “visits” from a man of color. The visits were far more than dreams. He appeared nearly real and felt familiar even though his face was not clearly visible to her, saying only the words “come on baby.” She knew her soulmate was close by, she just had not met him yet. At the same time, Barry was taking the exact same online courses as Sarina, but on the other side of the planet. He too began to realize that the circumstances of his life were evolving to the point where there was space and desire for his divine counterpart to join him.
In late spring of 2023 Barry and Sarina each carefully crafted profiles and chose to give an online dating site a try. At the end of month one, having no luck in meeting the type of partner she sought, Sarina logged on to terminate her subscription to the site. As she did, she was presented with Barry’s profile as “today’s recommended match.” No harm in one last look… a very handsome man, a very intriguing profile, in fact, so much detail in his profile that the screen view had to be expanded. The very last line of his profile revealed that Barry had graduated from the same university as Sarina, the University of Connecticut. She had to at least make an attempt to connect with him and see if there might be more that they had in common. The magic of their love story is what has led them to create The O+Positive Way.
